Jeremy Rockliff, Premier

Vale The Hon. Graeme Page

On behalf of the Tasmanian Liberal Government, I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of The Hon. Graeme Reginald Page, who has sadly passed away last night at the age of 80.

A stalwart of the Liberal Party and his community, Graeme was a highly respected Member of Parliament and Businessman.

Graeme was elected in 1976 for the Electorate of Wilmot – now known as the electorate of Lyons.

Graeme served as the House of Assembly Speaker from 1992 – 1996.

In 1996, Graeme returned to his roots and continued to work at the helm of iconic Tasmanian business, Page Transport, a company founded in 1935 that still symbolises the Australian spirit of hard work and success.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff said Graeme was an outstanding local member, serving his community for 20 years.

“Graeme commanded attention of the room – he would deal with all Tasmanians, from every walk of life,” Premier Rockliff said.

“As a young Liberal in the early 90s, Graeme was a person that I always looked up to and admired.

“He was a committed Member of Parliament, down to earth, affable, good natured, and always encouraging.

“Our Liberal family have lost a true statesman and a great friend.

“He will be dearly missed by us all.”

Graeme is survived by his wife Anne, their three sons, Geoff, Jon, Chris - sadly their daughter Catherine died in 2021 - their partners, children and grandchildren.

Vale Graeme Page.
