Expanding access to health care

  • Constructing new dedicated mental health precincts in Burnie, Devonport, Launceston and Hobart, with new in-patient units and rehabilitation services;
  • Undertaking major upgrades at each of the State’s four public hospitals;
  • Continuing the State’s largest ever recruitment blitz of nurses, doctors, paramedics and allied health professionals, to build on the more than 3,000 new health care workers recruited over the past 12 months;
  • Expanding the scope of practice for community pharmacies to offer more treatment options such as UTI’s, oral contraceptive pill, and now ear infections, shingles and wound care;
  • Delivering a new surgical robot for urology and gynaecology procedures at the LGH, improving patient outcomes;
  • Constructing a new Northern Heart Centre at the LGH, helping reduce heart diseases and improve cardiac services;
  • Rolling out a new four year plan to increase elective surgery capacity and reduce wait times;
  • Delivering a new public diagnostic breast care centre in Southern Tasmania; and
  • Constructing new ambulance stations at Legana, Longford, Bicheno, King Island, Snug and Cygnet.

Easing cost of living pressures

  • Delivering a $60 credit off every Tasmanian household’s energy bill as
    part of the Renewable Energy Dividend;
  • Slashing public transport fares for students and regional routes by half;
  • Record concessions across rates, energy, transport and water;
  • Expanding the Healthy School Lunches Program to include more schools, saving families up to $950 a year; and
  • Encouraging social and physical activity through the Ticket to Wellbeing and Ticket to Play Voucher initiatives.

Making housing more affordable and accessible

  • Stamping out Stamp Duty for first home buyers of existing homes, up to $750,000, saving Tasmanians up to $28,935;
  • Continuing the MyHome Shared Equity Program, with increased income limits, allowing eligible Tasmanians to purchase a home with as little as a 2 per cent deposit and
  • Unlocking more land across Greater Hobart, enabling construction of up to 10,000 more homes.
