Seafood lovers, local producers and the broader community have come together to celebrate some of Tasmania’s world-renowned industries at the eighth annual Tassie Scallop Fiesta.

While scallops were the hero of the day, the Fiesta highlighted the diversity of the region’s offering, with stalls and tastings featuring everything from fresh produce and artisan breads to fine wines, gin, jams and handmade goods.

Opening the event, Premier Jeremy Rockliff said there is no greater supporter of regional events and communities than our Government.

“The Fiesta showcases not just a prized Tasmanian delicacy, but the people and industries that underpin the region’s identity and economy,” Premier Rockliff said.

“Every scallop split here in Bridport adds value, creates jobs, and supports local communities, from the deck to the dinner plate.

“Our Government has continued to invest in important regional events right around Tasmania, with $77,000 being delivered to support the Scallop Fiesta from 2025-2027.

“We’ve also continued to work closely with the Bicheno Food and Wine Festival, Cygnet Folk Festival, Tasmanian Craft Fair, A Taste of the Huon, and TrailGraze to back them in and secure their futures.

“Supporting our regional industries and events encourages more people to get down to Tassie and see the world-class produce we have to offer.

“Our tourism and hospitality sectors have been booming, with 1.3 million visitors travelling to Tasmania in the last 12 months, injecting $3.5 billion into the state’s economy.

“These sectors employ one in six Tasmanians, and our Government will always back them in.

“I want to pay tribute to the whole Fiesta team for bringing together such an outstanding event.

“To Festival Director Tony Scott, and each and every volunteer who put their hand up to help out, I thank you for hard work and commitment in bringing people together to celebrate a special part of Tasmania’s way of life.”
