Graduated Licensing System

New and revised rules to come into effect from December will make getting a driver’s licence cheaper and safer for Tasmanians.

The Government is making further improvements to the Tasmanian Graduated Licensing System to ensure novice drivers have fewer steps to take to get their licence.

Information that was recently sent to current P1 drivers is in need of correction, and those P1 drivers are being written to today.

To clarify, all P1 drivers will have a new maximum speed limit of 100km/h, even if a higher speed limit applies. P1 drivers are currently restricted to 90km/h in a 100km/h zone.
