On behalf of the Tasmanian Government, I would like to thank Mr Johnathan Fisher for his service as Chief Executive Officer of the Port Arthur Historic Site Management Authority (PAHSMA).
Mr Fisher has been instrumental in steering the Authority as it worked to rebuild from the challenges of COVID, and he has ensured that the Authority is well prepared as Tasmania emerges from the impacts of COVID on our visitor economy.
Mr Fisher’s commitment and energy to the task of navigating the World Heritage values of the Port Arthur, Cascades Female Factory and Coal Mines historic sites through COVID is greatly appreciated.
PAHSMA is internationally recognised for its outstanding conservation and tourism experiences that help tell the bigger Australian Convict heritage story.
Its vision in sharing Tasmania’s chapter in the Australian Convict story is a key component of attracting visitors to Tasmania and supporting jobs across the state.
The Authority is on a strong footing to deliver a sustainable government business enterprise, in partnership with State Government.
Mr Fisher will depart the position on May 17, and a national recruitment process will be undertaken to find a new Chief Executive Officer for the Port Arthur Historic Site Management Authority.
