New funding round to boost advanced manufacturing

Innovative Tasmanian advanced manufacturing businesses have another chance to secure substantial government funding which will support them to further grow and flourish.

Round four of the $3 million Advanced Manufacturing Accelerating Growth Grant program is now open for applications.

Minister for Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Industries, Madeleine Ogilvie, said Tasmanian-based manufacturing businesses with innovative projects can apply for up to $100,000 to buy equipment to help grow their market and create new local jobs.

“Under the first three rounds of the program, 27 projects have received a share of $2.19 million in funding, supporting a total investment of $9.2 million in innovative projects,” she said.

“One great example of a business benefiting from the Advanced Manufacturing Accelerating Growth Grant program is Pivot Maritime International Pty Ltd, which specialises in cutting edge maritime simulation design, manufacturing and training.

“Pivot Maritime sells its products into defence and commercial markets around the world.

“The Legana-based company started in 1989 and has gone from strength to strength ever since.

“Pivot Maritime received $100,000 under round two of the program to assist with the purchase of equipment to support its expansion into the new business stream of 3D renderings of high resolution maritime environmental models.

“I encourage Tasmanian-based manufacturing businesses to follow the example of Pivot Maritime and see if you are eligible for funding through the Advanced Manufacturing Accelerating Growth Grant program.”

The Rockliff Liberal Government is building a strong economy and delivering jobs growth with targeted investments.

The manufacturing sector generates more than $7 billion in turnover a year and employs some 18,000 Tasmanians.
