Expanded Centre of Excellence for ReadyTech in Launceston

The Rockliff Liberal Government is proud to be supporting the expansion of ReadyTech’s Centre of Excellence in Tasmania, enabling the growth of a modern technology hub in the Launceston.

This commitment will see ReadyTech grow its local staff numbers to 90, including highly skilled positions in artificial intelligence, data analysis and broader ICT positions.

ReadyTech is a global software company providing digital workplace software to the commercial, government and educational markets. The company has had a stable presence in Tasmania for more than 20 years and has been growing its local workforce since committing to the centre of excellence with some 45 employees currently located in its Launceston office.

``The Centre of Excellence expansion will allow the University of Tasmania and TasTAFE to provide additional local graduate jobs in the fast-growing ICT sector,’’ Minister Barnett said.

``This is a continuation of the strong relationship between the Tasmanian Government, local education and training providers and innovative businesses such as ReadyTech.

``The Tasmanian Government will assist ReadyTech’s Centre of Excellence expansion with up to $1.94 million for location establishment support, employee relocation and recruitment help and staff training and development incentives.

``This support has ensured Launceston is the home of the expansion and will enable new high-quality and high-paying jobs and local investment in growing industries in Tasmania.

``The Office of the Coordinator-General has worked with ReadyTech on this exciting proposition for some time and is thrilled not only for ReadyTech’s expansion, but also to demonstrate the value and potential of Launceston as a hub for highly skilled, technology-based jobs.

``The Centre of Excellence complements Tasmania’s growing ICT sector, which is going from strength to strength and is expected to grow revenue to $2.1 billion by 2024-25.

``We look forward to seeing work being completed over the coming months, delivering jobs and showing that Tasmania is a leading location for long-term investment,’’ Minister Barnett said.
