WorkSafe Month moves online

October is WorkSafe Month and this year it has moved online in response to COVID-19.

Worksafe Month, a long-running initiative of the WorkCover Tasmania Board, will maintain its focus on encouraging everyone to continue working together to keep Tasmanians safe and healthy in their workplaces.

When the initiative commenced in 1996, more than 14,600 Tasmanians were injured at work in the 1996-97 reporting period. In the 2019-2020 reporting period, this number has fallen to 7,000.

Therefore, WorkSafe Month is an opportunity for all of us to do what we can to make sure safety, health and wellbeing are a top priority in the workplace. Promoting good mental health and wellbeing is also particularly important as we recover and rebuild from the impacts of COVID-19.

The online program will ensure there is an option to suit everyone regardless of working hours, location, business size, industry or role at work.

To watch my launch message and for more information about WorkSafe Month and the events that are available, please visit www.worksafetasmonth.com.au or phone the WorkSafe Helpline on 1300 366 322.
