Busy year for Health ICT

Technology is a key part of modern healthcare, playing an important role in improving patient care in our health system.

Today, I am releasing the annual highlight report from our dedicated Tasmanian Health Information and Communications Technology team.

Our Health ICT team is a diverse and dedicated group of local technology professionals committed to helping their frontline clinical colleagues to meet the state’s healthcare needs.

Tasmania’s COVID-19 response has been underpinned by technology, which most of us would have interacted with this year, including Check In Tas, Hospital Screening Tools, and COVID-19 vaccination bookings.

The development, implementation and gradual rollout of these technologies are just a few examples of the great work the ICT team has been involved in recently.

The Tasmanian Liberal Government recognises the importance of technology, which is why we are transforming digital health and progressing key focus areas of a 10-year Digital Health Transformation Plan.

Digital health includes a range of technologies and services that can improve patient care and make it easier for health professionals, including electronic referrals from GPs to specialists and telehealth options so people can get care closer to home.
