Business confidence remains strong in Tasmania

The NAB business survey for September 2020 has once again confirmed that Tasmania continues to buck the national trend with strong business confidence and conditions.

Tasmania continues to rank first in the nation for business conditions, at more than 20 points higher than the level seen nationally in trend terms, meaning we have been ranked first for business conditions each and every month this year.
These results place us in a strong position as we support businesses to recover from the impacts of COVID-19 and rebuild our economy.

Tasmania was also one of just two states to see positive confidence which is a testament to our responsible and gradual recovery.
The survey comes off the back of the Tasmanian Liberal Government’s nation-leading social and economic support measures packages.

This includes our $3.1 billion Construction Blitz which will support 15,000 jobs and build 2,300 new homes, our $12.5 million Make Yourself At Home tourism voucher scheme and additional $60 million in business recovery loans.

While we are confident our plan to Rebuild a Stronger Tasmania is working, with nearly 16,000 jobs returned from the height of the pandemic’s impacts in May, we know that there is more to do.

The Tasmanian Government will continue to work hard every day to restore business confidence, support businesses to invest and hire, and grow the economy
