Plenty to discover at Agfest

It’s an agricultural institution, a must see on the Tasmanian calendar, and this year’s Agfest is shaping up to be another fine event.

Minister for Primary Industries and Water, Jane Howlett, has encouraged people to grab a ticket online and head along to Quercus Park to see everything the event has to offer.

“The Rockliff Liberal Government is the biggest supporter of our farmers. As the new Minister, I can’t wait to get to Agfest and meet our producers, their suppliers, and the small businesses and community organisations that are part of the agricultural landscape,” Minister Howlett said.

“Data shows the Agfest Agricultural Field Days at Quercus Park bring between $21 million and $26 million to the region’s economy annually.

“Rural Youth Tasmania volunteers do an incredible job of coordinating these field days, which attract more than 50,000 visitors.

“Hundreds of businesses can showcase their products and services to open up trade opportunities, while networking within the industry which improves their growth and profitability.

Minister Howlett said the three-day event featured more than 500 exhibitors and reaffirmed the importance of agriculture to the Tasmanian economy.

“Tasmania has a booming agriculture sector, and we are on track to sustainably reach our goal of $10 billion farm-gate value by 2050,” Minister Howlett said.

“Events like Agfest and organisations like Rural Youth are an important part of reaching that goal.”

Agfest runs from 2-4 May, with tickets available online at agfest.com.au.
