The Tasmanian Government is focused on ensuring more Tasmanians have the opportunity to access the training they need to get a job.
A rewarding career is important for the emotional, financial and social wellbeing of Tasmanians and their communities and, with our economy continuing to perform strongly, there is a need to increase the capabilities of staff across some of our most significant industries.
That is why the Tasmanian Liberal Government is providing up to $1.54 million to help workers up-skill, while increasing productivity and business growth, through the latest round of our Skills Fund.
This builds on the $4.45 million released through the program in February, which is now supporting training places for more than 4000 Tasmanians, allowing workers to gain new skills through nationally recognised training.
The increase in economic and business activity in Tasmania means some of our key sectors now require their employees to undertake training to allow them to meet growing demand and to expand their operations.
Tasmania’s building and construction sector has already received a significant boost through our 2022 funding, allowing staff to develop the right skills to support economy-boosting infrastructure projects.
On the back of a range of high-value contracts and growing international recognition, the program is also helping our advanced manufacturing, agriculture and aquaculture sectors to up-skill workers as we re-establish and grow our external markets.
Under the latest round of the Skills Fund these sectors, as well as other in-demand industries such as aged and disability care and hospitality, will benefit from this subsidised training.
The funding will directly help Tasmania businesses build the capabilities of their staff and by doing so, strengthen their own capacity and productivity.
Endorsed Registered Training Organisations are eligible to apply with applications closing on Tuesday, 14 June 2022.
