Designs released for Gordons Hill Road, Tasman Highway interchange

The Australian and Tasmanian Governments are seeking community feedback on proposed designs for the Gordons Hill Road interchange.

The project is the first under the Mornington Area Road Improvement program. It involves connecting Gordons Hill Road to the Tasman Highway to improve access between the Tasman Highway and Rosny Park, while also helping reduce traffic pressure on Cambridge Road and the Mornington roundabout.

The proposed designs include:

• Building an on-ramp connecting Gordons Hill Road with the Tasman Highway;
• Improved footpaths and crossing points for people who walk, wheel, and ride; and
• Upgrades to the Gordons Hill Road and Bligh Street intersection.

The designs can be viewed here or in person at the Clarence City Council Chambers (38 Bligh Street, Rosny Park) or Rosny Library (46 Bligh Street, Rosny Park).

Feedback can be provided until October 5 by completing an online form on the project webpage, or by emailing GordonsHill-Interchange@building.tas.gov.au.

In-person feedback can be provided directly to the project team at information sessions on:

• Thursday, 17 September 2026, 12:30pm to 4:00pm, at the Rosny Library
• Saturday, 19 September 2026, 9:00am to 1:00pm, at the Tasmanian Produce Market, Kangaroo Bay.

Designs for a proposed off-ramp connecting the Tasman Highway and Gordons Hill Road are being revised to minimise any impacts to Kangaroo Bay Rivulet.

These designs will be released for feedback later this year, as well as designs for replacement of the Mornington Roundabout with a new signalised intersection.

The projects are funded under the Australian and Tasmanian Governments' $100 million Mornington Roundabout Upgrade project.
