The Tasmanian Liberal Government strongly backs our cultural and creative industries that support thousands of jobs across the State and add millions to our economy.
That’s why the 2021-22 State Budget includes additional funding for these industries of $5 million across the forward estimates, including a $1.2 million annual uplift in funds available for arts organisations.
This is in line with our election commitment to further support and build confidence for this diverse sector into the future.
Accordingly, I am pleased to announce almost $3.8 million has been awarded to 30 arts organisations for activities in 2022 and beyond, which is around 65 per cent more than previous years.
This will enable organisations to deliver high quality arts activities and engage audiences and local communities across the State, while providing vital professional development and employment opportunities for over 400 Tasmanian artists and arts workers.
It also builds on the significant investment we have already made to support the sector through the impacts of COVID-19, with over $12 million in support committed during what has been a very challenging past 18 months.
Organisations to receive support include:
Other well-known and much loved Tasmanian arts organisations funded through this round include Theatre North, Van Diemen’s Band, Kickstart Arts, RANT Arts, TasDance, Blue Cow Theatre and Big hART Inc.
