Tasmania’s economy continues to grow according to National Accounts data released today by the ABS.
The figures, backed in by Treasury analysis, shows underlying State Final Demand growth of 1.8 per cent over the 2026 financial year, after normalising for the arrival of TT-Line vessels in June 2025.
Treasurer Eric Abetz said the result shows the strength and resilience of Tasmania’s economy.
“Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we're continuing to grow Tasmania's economy," Treasurer Abetz said.
"Tasmania's total State Final Demand is nearing a record $52 billion.
“Tasmania's goods exports exceeded $5 billion for the first time ever in the 12 months to June.
“And we’re leading the nation in both business confidence and business conditions, according to the latest NAB data.
"The good news comes a day after the ABS revealed that Tasmania’s residential building approvals grew 31 per cent year on year, well ahead of the national average of 11.5 per cent."
