Today marks the official launch of the 2021 Ten Days on the Island Festival, as the much loved event prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
The inaugural Ten Days on the Island Festival occurred in 2001 under the guidance of founding Artistic Director, Robyn Archer AO, and has since gone from strength to strength to become the cultural and creative event that it is today.
This year’s festival program is almost entirely local, with organisers taking the opportunity to celebrate its 20th anniversary by showcasing the work of Tasmania’s finest artists and arts organisations – many of whom have had long standing involvements with the festival.
Activities will occur over three weekends in Tasmania’s north-west (5-8 March), north-east (12-14 March) and south (19-21 March), allowing audiences across the State access to a broad range of exciting arts events.
Speaking at the Hobart launch today as Minister for the Arts, I acknowledged the important work that the Ten Days on the Island team has done to ensure that the festival is able to proceed in-line with COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions.
All events included in the 2021 Ten Days on the Island festival will be delivered in line with the Tasmanian Government’s Framework for COVID-19 Safe Events and Activities in Tasmania.
