The Australian Bureau of Statistics' June 2026 trade data shows Tasmania's annual exports are up 9.6 per cent year on year.
This growth is more than double the national average of 4.1 per cent.
In dollar terms, this represents a $443 million increase in the value of Tasmanian goods exports compared to the prior 12 months taking the State's annual trade value to more than $5 billion.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff said growing exports is a key priority under the 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, with the Government committed to increasing Tasmania's annual exports to $15 billion by 2050.
"There has never been so much Tasmanian produce and expertise being exported around the world," the Premier said.
"Recent trade missions to Thailand and Japan are already delivering tangible outcomes.
"In Thailand, we strengthened Tasmania's international profile through the MONA partnership, secured commitments from The Mall Group to bring an inbound business delegation to Tasmania and deliver a Taste of Tasmania promotion in Bangkok, while progressing investment opportunities with major Thai businesses.
"In Japan, we strengthened relationships with key companies including Kirin and AEON and secured a Japanese business delegation to visit Tasmania later this month to pursue new trade and investment opportunities.
"These are exactly the kinds of partnerships that help diversify markets, attract investment, grow exports and create more jobs for Tasmanians."
Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Guy Barnett, said the quality of the produce that comes out of Tasmania is world-leading and years of hard work has driven this sustained growth in our export value.
"As a Government, we will continue to back our growers, producers, manufacturers and makers by reducing red tape, investing in trade and opening new markets for Tasmanian products and services," Minister Barnett said.
"Our Tasmanian Trade Strategy 2030, developed in partnership with industry, is focused on creating new opportunities for exporters through targeted international market engagement, stronger commercial relationships and market diversification.
"Since this Liberal Government was elected in 2014, Tasmania's goods exports have grown by nearly 80 per cent, demonstrating the value of backing our exporters and taking Tasmania to the world."
