Draft master plan for Hobart City High School released for consultation

The Tasmanian Liberal Government has delivered on another of our election commitments, unveiling the draft master plan for the development of the Hobart City High School.

Following extensive consultation with school staff and the broader community, the draft master plan for Hobart City High School’s Ogilvie and New Town campuses was developed.

Our Government has committed $20 million to undertake priority projects identified during consultation on the draft master plan, ensuring students will benefit from contemporary and flexible facilities.

We have also provided $1.6 million to undertake essential capital improvements including upgrading toilet facilities and refurbishing general learning areas at both Ogilvie and New Town campuses.

The draft master plan identifies a range of opportunities on the Ogilvie and New Town campuses to provide contemporary learning facilities and for increased enrolment capacity for the future.

The draft master plan can be viewed now on the Department of Education's website at www.education.tas.gov.au/get-involved.

Targeted community and stakeholder consultation will commence on Monday, March 28 and will run for eight weeks.

Feedback received through this extensive process will help inform the prioritisation of works for the allocated funding.

Since 2014, the Tasmanian Liberal Government has delivered a record investment in new education infrastructure of $486.6 million, which is a much-needed investment in the future of our learners.

This includes $116.2 million of capital investment funding announced in the 2021-22 Budget to deliver on our 2021 election commitments, which included the Hobart City High School development.

I encourage the community to come forward as part of the consultation to have their say on this exciting project, which will ensure our students are learning in the best possible environments.
