500 people into work since opening of Glenorchy Jobs Hub

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is delivering on our plan to strengthen our economy and create jobs so we can continue to invest more in essential services like housing, health and education.

The Glenorchy Jobs Hub has today celebrated getting its 500th person into work over the last 12 months.

The Glenorchy Hub is part of the Jobs Tasmania network of Regional Jobs Hubs located around the State supporting job seekers and local employers.

Since the Glenorchy Jobs Hub has been operational, more than 850 local job seekers have registered, 500 people have found work and more than 50 local employers are working with the Hub to support their staff and training needs.

Jobs Hubs are coordinating employment and training services right across the State, particularly in areas that are experiencing higher unemployment and lower levels of workforce participation.

Through the Jobs Hub, job seekers and businesses can look forward to increased and personalised support to connect with the services they need.

Over the last year, the Glenorchy Jobs Hub has held a jobs fair attended by more than 1200 people, and helped connect local businesses with new staff, working with specific industries to find skilled labour.

The outlook for local employment outcomes in Hobart’s northern suburbs is very positive, with opportunities for new jobs being significant given the range of large infrastructure projects underway.
