The Tasmanian Government is committed to supporting those in financial need, and this remains one of our key priorities.
The 2020-21 State Budget includes over $300 million in concessions and discounts to support Tasmanians with cost of living pressures and today I am pleased to officially launch the 2020-21 Tasmanian Government Discounts and Concessions Guide.
The Guide is produced to help individuals and families identify their entitlements with discounts and savings available on a wide range of services in areas such as housing, transport, electricity, heating, education and health services. It also provides information on how to locate Tasmanian Government support to assist with the impact of COVID-19.
The 2020-21 Guide offers over 90 concessions to help households with the cost of living and to enable Tasmanians to fully participate and be involved in community life.
It is free and aims to reach those in the community with the greatest financial need, namely people on low or fixed incomes, people with disability and their carers, seniors, veterans, widows, sole parents and students.
Ticket to Play vouchers can also be found in the 2020-21 Guide, which help families with the cost of sporting club registration for children aged 5 – 18 who meet the eligibility requirements. Under the 2020-21 Ticket to Play Program, eligible children can receive two $100 vouchers.
I am pleased to announce that since the 2020-2021 Program opened on 1 July 2020, more than 7,000 vouchers have been issued.
Today I was joined by members of the Hobart Gymnastics Academy in Bridgewater, who have been one of the key supporters of our Ticket to Play Program.
It is amazing to see first-hand the difference the Program is making to young Tasmanians.
