The Tasmanian Government is continuing to investigate the theft of data from third-party file transfer service, GoAnywhere MFT, with no new data released overnight.
Minister for Science and Technology Madeleine Ogilvie said while this is welcome, we continue to remain vigilant and alert to further developments.
“We continue to contact those affected by the data release yesterday to ensure their wellbeing with a priority on those assessed as most vulnerable, along with working with the relevant authorities to investigate and monitor this situation,” the Minister said.
“The incident management team is continuing its work in responding to this cyber crime and the State’s emergency management arrangements have been activated to strengthen the State response to the incident.
“A dedicated hotline has been stood up and is available on 1800 567 567 between 9am–6pm to provide Tasmanians with advice and support, with a number of calls already received.
“We have also engaged Cyber CX, a leading Cyber security specialist to assist with investigations.
“We continue to urge people to stay alert for any suspicious financial activity or attempted scams, and a dedicated webpage is now active to assist with enquiries and information.
“We will act immediately if there are any updates, and will keep the community informed at every step.”
There are a number of resources and support services that Tasmanians can access in relation to data security and financial crime.
