Tasmania’s multicultural action plan – have your say

The Rockliff Liberal Government’s vision is for a harmonious, inclusive, and respectful multicultural island where Tasmanians of all cultures have an equal opportunity to belong, contribute, achieve and succeed.

If you or someone you know has a migrant background, we want to hear from you about how we can build a better multicultural Tasmania.

Public consultation is underway for our new Action Plan that will set out specific actions the Tasmanian Government will take to achieve our vision for a multicultural Tasmania.

You can have your say by completing an online survey. Further details are available at www.dpac.tas.gov.au/divisions/cpp/community-policy-and-engagement/our-multicultural-island-tasmanias-multicultural-policy-and-action-plan-2019-2022.

Over the coming months, the Multicultural Council of Tasmania, in close partnership with Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania and Migrant Resource Centre North, will be conducting forums and focus group sessions to inform the development of the next Action Plan.

Minister for Community Services and Development, Nic Street, said under the Action Plan, Tasmanian Government agencies will commit to delivering a range of measures to facilitate accessible services, increase economic opportunities, and social inclusion and cohesion.

“I would encourage the Tasmanian community, particularly those born outside of Australia and people connected to them, to participate in this important consultation process,” he said.

“This consultation will help shape our understanding of what we need to strengthen as a Government to ensure Tasmania remains an inclusive, harmonious and respectful multicultural island.”

If you would like to be involved in future consultation activities, please email your contact details to multicultural@dpac.tas.gov.au.
