Eleven qualified paramedics will strengthen frontline emergency ambulance services across Tasmania, with seven recruits set to be based in stations across the South, one in the North, and three in the North West.

Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future our Government is committed to boosting frontline services in Tasmania.

The commencement of these eleven qualified paramedics brings the total number of new paramedics welcomed to the service in 2026 to 75, comprising of 42 graduate paramedics and 33 qualified paramedics.

This latest cohort of paramedics have all relocated to Tasmania from interstate or overseas, including four from the UK and New Zealand, collectively bringing 51 years of paramedic experience to Ambulance Tasmania.

Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Bridget Archer, warmly welcomed Ambulance Tasmania’s newest recruits.

“These paramedics joining Ambulance Tasmania will play an important role in delivering life-saving care to the Tasmanian community,’’ Minister Archer said.

“We are delivering on our commitment to recruit more qualified paramedics, who bring significant and diverse experience with them to the job.

“We are strengthening our ambulance services right across the State by recruiting, retaining, and supporting our valued paramedic workforce.”

The paramedics are currently going through Ambulance Tasmania’s four-week induction program, which provides hands-on training to ensure they are well-prepared and supported to deliver emergency care in the Tasmanian community.

After completing the program, they will be deployed across the State where they will receive on-the-road mentoring and support as they transition into their roles.
