Tasmania Police keeping Tasmanians safe

I would like to congratulate Tasmania Police on their largest ever drug investigation which led to the dismantling of a drug syndicate yielding the largest volume of illicit drugs and cash seizures of over $5.5 million.

This complex investigation called Operation Carnegie was led by Tasmania Police’s Crime and Intelligence Command, which was launched in 2020 to further enhance the coordination of specialist resources to investigate crime.

It involved Tasmania Police working with their interstate and federal counterparts, and included a series of premises and vehicle searches in both Queensland and Tasmania.

This impressive operation further demonstrates that the Tasmanian Liberal Government’s plan to keep Tasmanians safe by investing in Tasmania Police resources is working.

Since coming to Government in 2014, the Liberal Government has committed to 308 additional police officers.  Our increase in police numbers is having a real impact on crime in Tasmania, alongside the additional drug detection dog.

Thank you to Tasmania Police, and the courageous officers for their hard work and dedication to keeping Tasmanian communities safe and free from crime every day.
