Nick Duigan, Minister for Parks
Planning a trip to many of Tasmania’s parks is now easier, with the launch of the new Parks Online Booking System.
Minister for Parks and Heritage, Nick Duigan, said the Government was delivering on its commitment to provide a mobile-friendly platform that allows people to find, book and manage campground bookings in one convenient place.
“The new Parks Online Booking System delivers a simpler, more convenient way for people to plan their parks experiences,” Minister Duigan said.
“This is the first stage of a broader rollout that will bring a range of parks experiences together in one place, making it easier than ever to explore Tasmania’s incredible natural places.”
Backed by a $2 million investment from the Tasmanian Government, the system will expand over time to include other Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service products and experiences such as walking experiences, cave tours, accommodation, parks passes and other products through a single online portal.
The first phase includes bookings for selected campgrounds that already require a booking fee, including at Narawntapu National Park, Freycinet National Park, Maria Island National Park, Mount William National Park, Mount Field National Park, South Bruny National Park, Peggs Beach Conservation Area, Lime Bay State Reserve and Fortescue Bay.
Many campgrounds across the State remain free to stay and do not require a booking.
Previously, campsite booking fees were charged per person.
Now, campers will be able to book at a flat rate per site for groups of up to six people. Groups of more than six people will require additional campsites.
Standard campsites are $18 per night, premium unpowered sites $24 per night and premium powered campsites will be $35 per night.
Existing rates will be honoured for all previous bookings.
All revenue generated through camping bookings is reinvested into the management of Tasmania’s national parks and reserves.
