Ransom River bridge replacement

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is supporting the North-East community by delivering a replacement bridge over the Ransom River and road improvements to Terrys Hill Road at Goshen near St Helens.

The new concrete bridge will cater for all standard road use vehicles and will provide better access for local residents and nature based tourism operators.

It will also provide unrestricted load access to vehicles meaning that larger MTB transfer vehicles will be able to use the route, whereas the existing bridge is restricted to local traffic only with a 2.5 tonne weight limit.

In addition, we know that Terrys Hill Road provides an important alternate route to the Tasman Highway to the area around Pioneer and Gladstone and services a number of important MTB trail heads around the Blue Tier.

That’s why we will also undertake important works to improve the condition of Terrys Hill Road, including grading, clearing vegetation and roadside drainage will take place.

We know how vital the East Coast is to Tasmania’s tourism industry, which is why we are pleased to deliver the $201,000 project to make it safer and easier to access this iconic destination.
