Jobs Hubs to get more Tasmanians working

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is investing more than $10.5 million to expand the network of Regional Jobs Hubs across the state to bring local employers together and work with job seekers to address barriers to work, including skills and transport.

Today’s first ever Regional Jobs Hubs Network Forum in Hobart is another significant step in progressing our Local Jobs for Local People  agenda which will deliver a total of seven Jobs Hubs covering all regional areas of the State.

In addition to our $20.5 million Jobs Tasmania package announced in March and supported by the newly established Jobs Tasmania Unit, the Regional Jobs Hub Network aims to help more than 2000 additional Tasmanians into work over the next three years.

Importantly, these hubs will provide more dedicated employment support services right across the state,  particularly in areas that are experiencing higher unemployment and low levels of workforce participation.

Participants in today’s Jobs Tasmania Regional Jobs Hubs Network Forum heard local stakeholders about the work in the South East where over 700 people have been supported into work over the last two years.

As part of our commitment made in our First 100 Day Plan, the Network today also discussed the design of the $1.5 million Jobs Tasmania Partnership Fund, which will support the non-Government sector work with the Hubs to address barriers to work or training.

The Jobs Tasmania Partnership Fund will be released later in 2021.

The $2 million Job Ready Fund is already available to support eligible Tasmanians with up to $500 to assist with costs associated with becoming job ready which will include White Card accreditation, Working with Vulnerable People registration and the purchase of protective clothing or tools.
