Divided O'Byrne consigns Labor to chaos

There’s no end to Labor’s civil war following the leadership appointment of the deeply divisive David O’Byrne.

Labor’s dysfunction and identity crisis have been publicly slammed by three former Labor leaders, and with Mr O’Byrne beholden to Labor’s hard left factional power brokers, nothing changes – it’s the same old Labor.

In the May election Labor lost all but one polling booth in the entire north of the State and managed its worst primary vote on record in the Hobart seat of Clark.

Having dumped all its policies, and with caucus members who have expressed deep concern over its identity and division, Labor is now at ground zero.

As a wholly owned subsidiary of the unions, Mr O’Byrne should explain what deals he has done with Labor’s Admin Committee and the union bosses to become leader.

While Labor has now resigned itself to more chaos and internal politicking, the Tasmanian Liberal Government is getting on with the job of securing Tasmania’s future, providing the certainty and stability Tasmanians need.
