Lukas Krellmann, from CBG Systems, has been named Australian Industry & Defence Network’s Young Achiever of the Year for Tasmania.
Lukas has helped advance Tasmania’s reputation as a go-to for world-leading defence products by expanding on his science and engineering background into business operations more broadly.
Lukas will now go on to represent Tasmania against winners from each state and territory at the National Awards at Parliament House in Canberra on February 8, 2022.
Minister for Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Industries, Jeremy Rockliff, congratulated Lukas for being recognised for his work with CBG as Manager of Special Projects over the last five years, seeing him play an integral role in centralising and growing CBG’s local capabilities and improving the efficiency of the company’s manufacturing processes.
“This achievement recognises Lukas’ dedication to excellence across his science career,” Minister Rockliff said.
“He has also worked to establish a strong partnership with CSIRO in creating manufacturing processes for newly developed high-tech products and growing the company’s customer servicing operations for Australian and export markets directly out of Hobart.”
Tasmanian Defence Advocate, Rear Admiral [Ret] Steve Gilmore, said that Lukas’ commitment to excellence has helped CBG Systems enhance its standing as a global defence industry supplier.
“By helping drive innovation and efficiencies in both products and processes, Lukas is making a significant contribution to getting more Tasmanian designed and made products into the hands of more defence forces around the world,” Rear Admiral Gilmour said.
Managing Director of CBG Systems, Javier Herbon, also applauded Lukas’ win, seeing his dedication in action daily.
“Lukas demonstrates his commitment, enthusiasm, professionalism and engineering excellence in every project he has worked on,” Mr Herbon said.
“He has helped advance innovation across our business and, as a consequence, across the defence industry in general.
“Lukas has always been a high achiever and I’m confident he will continue contributing to the further development of Australia’s defence industry capability,” he said.
Minister Rockliff wished Lukas the best of luck in representing Tasmania at the national finals.
