Public Heath no longer recommends limiting travel to King Island and Tourism Tasmania will work closely with King Island tourism organisations and operators to promote the island through a marketing program and build demand for this summer season and beyond.
Boasting two of the world’s best golf courses, King Island has a strong reputation for its unique accommodation, high quality produce, visitor experiences and it is an important contributor to the Tasmanian economy.
One such experience is the King Island Pro-Am, which will be a COVID-safe golf event played at Cape Wickham and Ocean Dunes courses during 16 – 18 January 2022.
The Pro-Am will provide a great opportunity for golfers to play on some of the world’s best coastal courses and support King Island businesses.
Importantly, King Island tourism and hospitality businesses will be able to access the Business Impact Support Program and the COVID Care Package announced.
The package will assist Tasmanian small businesses who have experienced a reduction in business due to COVID-19 impacts since mid-December 2021.
Funding of up to $5000 will be available to eligible businesses, depending on their business size, and support of up to $5000 will also be available to business that experienced an unavoidable loss of perishable goods during this period.
Guidelines for the Business Impact Support Program will be available on Monday 17 January 2022 and the program will open on Wednesday 19 January 2022.
