Jeremy Rockliff

Premier of Tasmania

5 December 2022

Elise Archer, Attorney General and Minister for Justice,

New Director for Tasmania Law Reform Institute

I would like to congratulate Jeremy Prichard who has been appointed as the new Director of the Tasmania Law Reform Institute (TLRI).

Associate Professor Prichard has been a member of the TLRI Board since 2015 and has served as Acting Director since August 2022.

Associate Professor Prichard comes to the position with a strong record in research and a collaborative and consultative approach to his work, both of which will be valuable as he leads the work of the TLRI.

The TLRI was established in 2001 by agreement between the State Government, the University of Tasmania and the Law Society of Tasmania.

It serves an important function in reviewing laws to ensure they, amongst other things, remain current and relevant.

I look forward to working with Associate Professor Prichard when he officially takes up his new role as Director next month, at which time he will also assume the title of Professor of Law, and as the TLRI continues to play an important role in progressing law reform initiatives in Tasmania.
