The Tasmanian Government welcomes Dorset Council’s endorsement of its closure of the Board of Inquiry, marking an important milestone following the process.

“This is an important step forward for Dorset Council and the wider Dorset community,” Minister Vincent said.
“We want to ensure confidence is restored within the community, allowing the Council to move forward and focus on delivering positive outcomes for its ratepayers.”
Minister Vincent thanked the current Council and the many members of the community who contributed to the Board of Inquiry.
“Their willingness to participate and engage with the process has helped shape a stronger path forward for the Council,” Minister Vincent said.
“I would also like to acknowledge the commitment shown by councillors and Council staff in working through this process and implementing the changes required.”
This endorsement represents an opportunity for Council to turn its attention to the future, with a clear commitment to maintaining high standards of governance, transparency and accountability.
“It provides a foundation for Council to focus on serving the Dorset community, delivering the services and outcomes that residents expect and deserve.”
The Tasmanian Government continues to progress broader reforms aimed at strengthening governance standards across local government.
“Our Government is firmly committed to strengthening governance in local councils across Tasmania,” the Minister said.
“We have recently introduced legislative reform to better address governance, demonstrating our commitment to strengthen governance in local councils across Tasmania.”
