Incat continues to connect the world

The Tasmanian Liberal Government congratulates iconic Tasmanian shipbuilder Incat on the completion and official naming of its latest vessel for South Korean company Daezer Construction.

Hull 099 was officially named the El Dorado Express today at a ceremony in Hobart and is planned to sail to South Korea in coming days after sea trials in Southern Tasmania.

The 76-metre El Dorado Express will operate for Daezer between Pohang and Ulleung island, which is about 117 nautical miles off the eastern coast of South Korea.

``Incat continues to be a major contributor to Tasmania’s booming economy employing more than 430 FTE staff, which includes fabricators, welders, fitters, electricians, designers and administrative staff,’’ Minister Barnett said.

``Importantly, Incat also employs 52 apprentices and trainees with another mid-year intake is planned for July this year.

``The El Dorado Express has taken about 18 months to build and can accommodate up to 990 passengers/crew, 25 tonnes of cargo and can travel at speeds of up to 45 knots.

``Congratulations again to Robert Clifford and the highly skilled team at Incat on the completion of this magnificent vessel, and also to Daezer on the purchase of another quality Incat vessel that will provide decades of reliable service,’’ Minister Barnett said.
