Tasmania’s $30 billion dollar infrastructure pipeline has given industry confidence to invest in new machinery.

Road surfacing specialists, RoadWays, has invested in a new $650,000 state of the art asphalt paver.

Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Kerry Vincent, said our strong economy and significant infrastructure agenda is giving businesses the confidence they need to invest.

“RoadWays’ new machine is safer, more efficient and has a roof, which is important here in Tassie,” Minister Vincent said.

“Importantly, the infrastructure pipeline provides industry with the certainty it needs to plan, prepare and deliver infrastructure projects efficiently over the next decade.

“The pipeline includes more than 440 projects statewide, with planned investment of $7.8 billion in the north, $9.5 billion in the north west, and $9.6 billion in the south.

“Our Government is delivering for Tasmania, with this pipeline including the delivery and upgrade of critical community infrastructure, including roads, schools, hospitals, bridges, irrigation and clean energy-related projects.

“The clean energy sector has the most significant infrastructure agenda, with an estimated $11 billion in potential projects.”

Bill Abbott, CEO of Roadways, described the new paver as a clear vote of confidence in the future of Tasmania's road surfacing sector.

"As Tasmania's largest privately owned and operated specialist road surfacing company, the assurance we've gained from the Government's steady investment in infrastructure has enabled us to invest in state-of-the-art equipment like this."

Since its launch in July 2018, the pipeline has more than doubled from $13 billion to over $30 billion, reflecting our Government’s commitment get on with the job and deliver the things that matter to Tasmanians.
