Jeremy Rockliff, Premier
Premier Jeremy Rockliff has officially opened Cromarty Automation’s new state-of-the-art facility in Spreyton.
A leading Tasmanian business, Cromarty Automation has been a cornerstone of Tasmania’s manufacturing industry for 37 years, and is now taking its business to new heights.
Premier Rockliff said Cromarty has played an important role in Tasmania’s manufacturing and industrial landscape throughout its history.
“I want to recognise Cromarty’s commitment to excellence and collaboration across Tasmania since it was established in 1988,” Premier Rockliff said.
“Known for its world-class innovation and support for Tasmania's manufacturers, industrials and critical infrastructure, Cromarty has played a significant role in some of our State’s most important sectors.”
Cromarty’s national impact is significant, with its semi-dispatch software solution, 8Legs, managing approximately 45 per cent of Australia’s renewable energy generation.
This groundbreaking work highlights the company’s crucial role in the nation’s transition to clean energy.
This innovation is well and truly on the national stage, with the company establishing offices in Brisbane and Melbourne.
The new Spreyton facility features a dedicated testing area for calibrating high-end equipment and co-working spaces. The facility is set to foster a new wave of innovation in the state.
Cromarty’s commitment to community goes beyond industry, supporting Tasmanian charities, including the Children’s Christmas Party of Tasmania and the RSPCA.
It also actively supports the Beacon Foundation by hosting site visits to promote careers in STEM and offers the UTAS Cromarty Automation Scholarship in Engineering to nurture the next generation of talent.
Cromarty Automation CEO, John Watts, said: “While our new facility was driven by the need to support our growing customer base in the developing Devonport area, it also provides a workplace where our people can grow, thrive, and do their best work.”
“Our previous site had outgrown its purpose, so when planning this new facility, it was key that our staff had a voice in shaping how it would best serve them. We’re proud that this new space reflects their input—a place designed for collaboration, innovation, and shared growth for both our people and Cromarty.”
Cromarty Automation was recognised by Jobs Tasmania as an Employer of Choice in August.
