Coronavirus update

Case numbers from the recent COVID-19 wave have continued to trend down in recent weeks, with 198 new cases overnight. The total number of active cases currently stands at 1,033 and we now have nearly 245,000 Tasmanians who have recovered from COVID-19.

There are currently 10 people in hospital being treated specifically for COVID and there is one patient in ICU.

Sadly, I can confirm that a man in his 80s has passed away in the States South. I extend my sincere condolences to the man’s family, friends, and loved ones.

While the continued reduction in case numbers is promising, we continue to urge Tasmanians to act to reduce the risk to ourselves and keep others safe from COVID-19.

The most critical thing that Tasmanians can do to protect themselves from the severe consequences of COVID is to ensure they are up to date with their vaccinations. If you haven’t already, make a booking with one of the many providers across the state and get your vaccination as soon as possible.
