I am pleased to announce that Ms Leanne McLean has been re-appointed as Tasmania’s Commissioner for Children and Young People.
Appointed by the Governor five years ago following a merit-based selection process, Ms McLean has been the strongest possible advocate for Tasmania’s children and young people and has worked tirelessly to raise awareness and ensure their rights, interests and wellbeing during that time.
Ms McLean’s knowledge and experience will also ensure continuity in monitoring and advocacy for children as we enter a critical period of reform in response to the Commission of Inquiry into the Tasmanian Government’s Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in Institutional Settings.
I look forward to continuing to work with Ms McLean and I congratulate her on her re-appointment as Commissioner.
