The Tasmanian Government is progressing its plan to employ more teachers in Tasmanian Government schools with hundreds of applications received during 2020 through the Quality Teacher Recruitment Assessment Centre.
The Assessment Centre was established to recruit quality teachers with the specific knowledge, motivations and attributes, experiences and skills and capabilities required in Tasmanian Government schools.
Through recruitment undertaken during 2020, the Assessment Centre received approximately 400 applicants for employment reflecting both a desire to undertake a rewarding career as a teacher and the attractiveness of working in a Tasmanian Government School.
As part of our ongoing focus on quality teaching, and with the support of the Australian Government, we will shortly commence recruitment for an additional six Lead Coach positions to join the six lead instructional literacy coaches and the 85.4 FTE literacy coaches already in our schools.
Lead coaches provide a critical role in supporting school leaders and teachers to develop and enhance quality teaching practices, and the recruitment process will be undertaken before the end of the year to ensure these new Lead Coaches commence in Term 1, 2021.
