Greens continue their war on Tasmanian jobs

The Greens are yet again confirming their opposition to jobs for Tasmanians, lower power prices, and renewable energy.

Marinus Link represents an intergenerational opportunity to make Tasmania the renewable energy powerhouse of Australia, and it will play a key role as we rebuild from COVID-19 with the potential to create thousands of jobs, many in regional areas.

The Greens say they support renewable energy, but their words ring hollow given they didn’t support our hydroelectric projects, they didn’t support Basslink, they have railed against windfarms, and now they are against Marinus Link and the thousands of jobs it represents.

It simply beggars belief the Greens would oppose this and confirms once again they have nothing to offer Tasmanians except constant protest.

We are committed to becoming a renewable energy powerhouse, which is why we are backing the Marinus Link project and progressing other initiatives such as our ongoing plans for a renewable hydrogen industry in Tasmania that represent further opportunities to grow the sector and create jobs in Tasmania.

The Australian Government will continue to assess foreign investment proposals against the national interest, and we will continue to progress job-creating projects that will benefit our State for years to come.
