Jeremy Rockliff, Premier

Lawn bowls enthusiasts and community members are celebrating the opening of a new, all-weather bowling green at the King Island Golf and Bowling Club.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff launched the new green on King Island.

"This fantastic upgrade will make it easier and safer for members to get on the bowling green and play all year round," Premier Rockliff said.

“This new green was made possible following a $325,000 Tasmanian Government election commitment.

“Local sporting organisations are the heart of our communities, and we will continue to back them in.

“We know the important role local community sporting organisations play in our regions, not just encouraging physical activity but also enhancing wellbeing, and I look forward to seeing the many benefits these upgrades will provide for the King Island community.

“Enthusiastic volunteer members such as Doug Bell deserve full credit for their passion and advocacy on behalf of the club.

“Our Government is delivering on our plan to upgrade community facilities like the King Island bowling green, because we know how crucial this infrastructure is for boosting participation.

“Investments like this bring the local community together and ensure residents can enjoy active recreation for years to come.”

As part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, the Government committed more than $49 million to over 110 projects aimed at boosting sports and active recreation across the State.
