Benefits already flowing from small business grants

The Tasmanian Liberal Government has a clear plan to support the small business sector to strengthen the future of our State.

Local businesses can now apply to receive financial and business advice through round two of the Small Business Advice and Financial Guidance program.

The program provides grants of between $750 and $1,500 to eligible small businesses.

Grant funds can be used to obtain services such as financial and business advice, support, counselling and strategy development from a suitably qualified specialist or consultant.

Eligible support may include financial and business planning, cash flow management, marketing or assistance with a business website.

So far, 68 Tasmanian small businesses have already been approved for funding under round two, totaling almost $100,000.

Today, I was delighted to join Simon Bowes of Coastal Carpet Cleaning, who has now been successful in applying for and receiving funding through rounds one and two of the program.

Mr Bowes said the Small Business Advice and Financial Guidance program has been invaluable in continuing to grow his business.

“For the second round, I have chosen a Tasmanian social media company to help me better understand digital marketing, and the best way to apply that to my carpet cleaning business,” Mr Bowes said.

“The application process is easy and straightforward so I would definitely recommend other local businesses to get on board.

“I feel very lucky to live in a State where the Government gets behind and supports small business through such difficult times.”

Round two of the grants program will close on 30 May 2023, or when all funding has been allocated.

Information on the program is available from the Business Tasmania website www.business.tas.gov.au or by contacting the team directly on 1800 440 026.
