This International Workers’ Memorial Day we will remember those who have been injured or lost their lives at work.
Minister for Small Business and Consumer Affairs, Madeleine Ogilvie, said ensuring Tasmanians are safe at work is a priority for the Rockliff Liberal Government.
“We are working closely with other jurisdictions and stakeholders to prevent workplace fatalities, and to provide better supports to families coping with the significant and lasting impact of losing a loved one at work,” Minister Ogilvie said.
“Importantly, WorkSafe Tasmania is developing a framework to improve the supports delivered to families of workers who are significantly injured, or lost their lives at work.”
The Tasmanian Government is currently considering responses to targeted consultation on industrial manslaughter laws.
Two services will be held in Tasmania to mark International Workers’ Memorial Day:
“These services are particularly important to injured workers and family members whose loved ones did not return from work providing a powerful reminder of the importance of workplace health and safety,” Minister Ogilvie said.
