New appointees for the Aboriginal Heritage Council

The Tasmanian Liberal Government recognises the importance of Tasmania’s Aboriginal cultural heritage to Tasmanian Aboriginal people, and all Tasmanians.

In 2017, we strengthened the role of the Aboriginal Heritage Council by making it a statutory body to directly advise the Minister on policy and procedures, and promote public understanding and awareness of Aboriginal heritage matters.

Today, I am pleased to announce that Theresa Sainty, Dave Gough and Lyndon O’Neil have been appointed to the Council, and that Greg Brown has been reappointed.

These members will join existing Council members, Rodney Dillon (Chairman), Zoe Rimmer, Jeanymaree Wilson, Hank Horton, Joselle Griffin and Camilla Woolley.

Our Government looks forward to continuing to work closely with the Council as we develop new, stronger Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Legislation.

More information about the Aboriginal Heritage Council can be found on the Aboriginal Heritage Tasmania website.
