Felix Ellis, Liberal Member for Braddon,

Labor splits again over resources jobs

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is the strongest supporter of Tasmanian mining sector while Labor is hopelessly divided over support for jobs, especially the 500 workers at Rosebery.

Labor feigns support for resource jobs and then votes in lock-step with the Greens and their Bob Brown Foundation allies to oppose laws to protect workers from illegal protests and workplace invasions.

If the events of the past 24 hours weren’t excruciating enough, Labor this morning again showed themselves as a party at war with themselves.

Embarrassingly, the State member for Braddon, Shane Broad, and Federal candidate for the same seat, Chris Lynch, found themselves on opposite sides of the fence on jobs at the Rosebery mine.

Where Dr Broad today attempted to muddy the waters, Mr Lynch is already on the record saying it was a ``tricky question’’ when asked if he supported Rosebery miner MMG or the Bob Brown Foundation.

It is painfully clear that Labor’s internal war is still in full swing with the dominant hard left faction continuing to put their party over people and workers.

The Tasmanian Liberal Government have been clear in our support for Rosebery MMG’s job-securing proposal, subject to the appropriate assessment and approvals process taking its course.

We are the strongest supporter of Tasmania’s resources sector and we are proud to fight for these jobs to help secure Tasmania’s future.
