Labor must make position on borders clear

Labor must cease their reckless politicking and finally reveal if they support the Government’s reopening plan for December 15.

Rebecca White knows Tasmania is prepared for a safe border reopening, so why does she continue to undermine Public Health?

Faster than a yo-yo, Labor called for the border to open, close, open, and close again without taking any notice of advice from Public Health. This politicking must stop.

The Tasmanian Government has set the target to reach 90 per cent of 16 years and over fully vaccinated by December 1.

In anticipation of our border opening on December 15, all eligible Tasmanians will have had the chance to get their vaccination

Based on Tasmania-specific modelling, we are confident that we can manage COVID safely once our border reopens.

The Government is working closely with the TICT and THA, who are right behind Government on the need to kick start our Visitor Economy which supports 42,000 Tasmanian jobs and generates up to $3.2 billion in economic activity each year.

For the sake of these businesses and hard-working Tasmanians who have been through an incredibly tough time, we simply cannot sit on our hands which is precisely what Labor is doing.

It is time to support our tourism and hospitality industries.

It is time to support jobs and our economy.

It is time to reopen our borders and reconnect Tasmania.

The time for politics is over.

Tasmanians deserve to know if Ms White and Labor support this plan.
