Expressions of Interest invited for Deputy President of Tasmanian Industrial Commission

Expressions of interest are being sought from suitably qualified persons interested in being appointed Deputy President of the Tasmanian Industrial Commission.

The Commission is an independent tribunal established under the Industrial Relations Act 1984, whose role is to conciliate, arbitrate and determine industrial matters pursuant to the Industrial Relations Act 1984, the State Service Act 2000, Long Service Leave Act 1976, Long Service Leave (State Employees) Act 1994 and to determine salaries and allowances pursuant to the Parliamentary Salaries, Superannuation and Allowances Act 2012.

To be considered for appointment to this role, a candidate must have extensive experience in industrial relations and must:

• be or have been an Australian legal practitioner, of not less than 5 years’ standing; or
• have served at a high level in a position or office in an industry or the trade union movement or in the service of a government or an authority of a government; or
• have obtained a degree of a university or an educational qualification of a similar standard, after studies in the field of law, economics, or industrial relations or another other field of study relevant to the functions of the Commission; or
• have demonstrated understanding of public sector administration.
