Jane Howlett, Minister for Primary Industries and Water

Delivering on our strong plan for recreational hunters

Two deer industry representatives will bring their experience to the table following their appointment to the Tasmanian Game Council by the Tasmanian Government.

Minister for Primary Industries and Water, Jane Howlett, congratulated Andrew Lockett from the Tasmanian Deer Advisory Committee (TDAC) and Scott Freeman from the Australian Deer Association (ADA) on their appointment.

“The Tasmanian Government recognises the economic and social contribution of recreational hunting and continues to support it by delivering on our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future,” Minister Howlett said.

“The appointment of Mr Lockett and Mr Freeman delivers on the Tasmanian Government’s First 100 Days commitment to appoint a representative from both the TDAC and the ADA to the Tasmanian Game Council (TGC).

“I am certain these appointments will strengthen the representation of recreational hunters on the TGC.”

The TGC is an independent advisory body established to provide advice to the Tasmanian Government and Minister for Primary Industries and Water on game and browsing animal management and hunting in Tasmania.

The TGC was established in 2018 and the new appointments takes the number on the council to 12.
