Dark Mofo set to turn Tasmanian winter red hot

Dark Mofo has been a cultural beacon in Tasmania since its inception in 2013, bringing locals out of hibernation and attracting visitors to the state in the traditionally quiet winter months.

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is proud to support this iconic festival with a funding agreement which provides $10.5 million over five years to 2021.

In addition, Dark Mofo is one of the six iconic events that will secure a new funding agreement as part of the Government’s $21.5 million election commitment, delivering multi-year funding agreements to secure their future here in Tasmania.

After being cancelled in 2020 due to the impacts of COVID-19, I am delighted that this year’s event will return in spectacular style.

Dark Mofo is one of Tasmania’s most popular annual events, demonstrating year on year growth, and provides a significant injection  for not only  Tasmania’s tourism and hospitality industries, but for local service providers for contracts relating to production, construction and labour hire.

The Tasmanian Government invests in events and festivals because they are an important part of our way of life, and of our visitor economy which support local businesses and jobs.
