Celebrating our SES on Wear Orange Wednesday

Today, May 17, is Wear Orange Wednesday.

Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Management, Felix Ellis, said WOW Day is a time when we publicly thank our dedicated State Emergency Service volunteers.

“During National Volunteers Week we commend everyone who gives up their time to help others, but today the focus is shining on the SES,” he said.

“These people do an incredible job when Tasmanians need them most, whether it’s floods, severe weather, search and rescue operations, or road crashes.

“The major reforms we have launched to combine our Tasmanian Fire and Emergency Services will make our first responders stronger together.

“And the $10 million commitment in the upcoming Budget to local SES Units and fire brigades will boost our emergency response and our growing female volunteer cohort.

“I want to thank our SES for their dedication and service to their communities.”
