Agfest returns to the paddock

Agfest has returned to the paddock for another year, celebrating and showcasing the best of Tasmania’s agriculture industry over three days.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff and Minister for Primary Industries and Water, Jane Howlett, visited DairyTas’ tent at the agricultural show to highlight the Tasmanian Liberal Government’s plan to invest in Quercus Park.

“Every year Rural Youth work tirelessly to deliver this fantastic agriculture show and our Government is proud to be partnering with them to deliver a permanent, on-site structure for DairyTas,” Premier Rockliff said.

“We are investing $350,000 into this project, as part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, to help establish an all-weather facility.

“Rural and regional Tasmanians are the lifeblood of our State, and we know investments like this will help future-proof the dairy industry’s participation in Agfest.

“To further support Rural Youth with infrastructure at Quercus Park, the Tasmanian Government will invest $4.3 million to establish an Earth Works Training facility on site.

“A partnership between Rural Youth and the Civil Contractors Federation Tasmania, our future tradies will get hands-on experience while contributing to the ongoing maintenance of roads and drains at Quercus Park.”

Primary Industries and Water Minister, Jane Howlett, congratulated Rural Youth on delivering another fantastic event.

“Over the next three days, farmers, producers, landowners and their families will come together to see the best of our agriculture industry,” Minister Howlett said.

“This agriculture show is so special to rural communities, and our Government is proud to continue to support it through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future.”

Agfest injects up to $26 million into the Tasmanian economy each year.
